All Web connections are filtered through world-class and continuously updated anti-virus filters to remove known malware. In addition, SurfControl’s Huntsman intelligent threat prevention technology provides an additional level of advanced heuristics-based protection. Huntsman analyzes and correlates real-time HTTP, FTP and SMTP threat data from multiple sources and uses this intelligence to scan Web traffic and block suspicious activity before it impacts the organization.

WebDefense Threat Manager - How it Works:

WebDefense Threat Manager, powered by BlackSpider, operates at the Internet level to remove Web-based threats before they enter the customer's network. All customers' Web traffic is routed through SurfControl's network of data-centers where it is scanned for known threats by a commercial malware engine and our Huntsman intelligent threat prevention technology for unknown threats. Real-time online monitoring and reporting ensures management visibility of Web-based threat activity.

WebDefense Threat Manager operates around-the-clock with Web traffic routed through multiple load-balanced data-centers in SurfControl's robust and highly resilient service delivery infrastructure. The result is a service of assured availability, scalability and high performance.

The deployment of the service can be tailored to match customers' Web access architecture:

• Chained proxy - the customer redirects their proxies to WebDefense proxies within our service delivery infrastructure.
• Firewall redirect - the customer reroutes Internet connections to WebDefense proxies within our service delivery infrastructure
• Direct browser connection - desktop browser settings are set to enforce the routing of all Web connections through our service delivery infrastructure
